Tom's wife and the current mayor have something on him and making him run for office.
This one is almost laughable as it makes no sense. Usually, if someone has something on someone else, it is used to NOT get them to run, not the opposite. I am my own person and want to run to help make my community an even better one than it already is. Period!
On Tom's Facebook, he posted that unless he receives the proposed increase in the mayor's stipend, he's not doing it.
Sorry, this one is stupid (but always consider the source if you hear a rumor like this one). First, my Facebook page is a public one and no one will find such a comment ever posted. I have nothing to do with an increase in the mayor's salary and quite frankly could care less. I had a friend point out that promising to donate any mayoral funds back to the city or community or work for free as a part of a campaign is in violation of Mo115.657(4). My wife and I have always donated to local causes and will continue to do so.
I would like to point out that two names in particular have a connection with these rumors. I don't plan to call these names out (for now anyway) but will say that spreading unfounded rumors are not the qualities of a good leader, especially in a campaign or in running a community.
